Hood Rats:
Hey, if you live in the Portland/Seattle area, check out my next "Gooch: The Column" in Jam Magazine. The next issue will be available soon in strategically located news stands around the Northwest. My conclusion to the column actually begins with "In conclusion." I haven't done that since my sophomore term in college. If I sound like I'm seeing this for the first time, well, I am. I was so hopped up on vicodin due to my appendectomy that I just quickly killed the column so I could A: get my article turned in on time, and B: get back to bed. Proof-reading was merely an afterthought.
Later.

Stuart Wylen Trio will be playing at Jazz De Opus this Friday and Saturday 6/29 and 6/30. Their site will be up and running again soon.
The following is from www.goochonline.com and does not in any way reflect the views of www.stuartwylentrio.com or the band.
Goochonline.com Log entry:
How come loving middle class couples have to spend years and thousands of dollars to adopt a child, but lesbian comediennes (sp?) are given children almost on a subscription service. Paula Poundstone? This woman, who is all the proof I need that you don't have to be funny to be a comedian, was arrested for lewd conduct with a 14 year old. This morning's news reports indicate that Paula has taken in a number of at-risk children into her home. Talk about the frying pan and the fire. I won't go into how if a man had been accused of the same crime, he wouldn't be out on bail, like Poundstone.
However, like Poundstone's kids, regular loaders of this site will see better days as I'm switching ISPs. Hopefully, in a week from today, I'll have this site, www.stuartwylentrio.com, and a business site that I manage up and running (the delays are due to the business site deciding on whether or not to get a dedicated server, which I'll leech on to if they do).
gooch.

Lemmings:
Somehow, Earthlink has managed to crash www.gooch-1.com and
www.goochonline.com. There's no immediate fix for what they've done...
only anger and frustration. My emergency appendectomy on 6/16/01
immediately comes to mind when I think of the pain I'm feeling right
now. However, no amount of surgical staples can close this wound.
Fortunately, I had the foresight, no - the genius - in keeping the logs
on a third party server. The logs are available at the following:
http://www.goochonline.blogspot.com
Please, email me with any questions, comments or concerns. I know that
together, we can get through these times and move forward knowing that
my website, the biggest waste of time in my adult life, will return in
all its glory.
Thank you for your time. goochonline.com counselors will be available

Well, today's the big day. I've gone back to work and at 3:15pm today I get the staples removed. If I was thinking, I would have used my camera to take a QuickTime movie of the doctor taking the staples out. Oh, well... I'm just happy to get the damned things out of my gut. You'd think they'd use some fancy type of staples, but I think these are Swingline #3. One good thing about this operation is that I get to take prescription pain pills while I'm working. If I could just find some heavy machinery to operate, I'd be set.

Well, this week has sucked.
Sure, I've had a week off of work but what can I do with a steady stream of Vicodin pumping through my system? Driving is pretty much out of the question (my own car, anyway... I haven't ruled out getting a rental). I'm thinking of putting some of my columns to CD, sort of an Audio Book for a book that has not been published. I've experimented with the "Xanax" speech: re-editing it and reading it like a real graduation speech, adding an arena reverb to it so it sounds like I'm really giving a graduation speech. It sounded pretty cool, but anyone with an opinion please give it to me.
Sign my guestbook. I'm going into a Vicodin induced sleep now. OH! HOLY SHIT! Earthlink, as much as they suck, provides a "visitor counter" for hits to my site by individuals per day. I'm not going to say how many, lest some asshole emails me and says something like "I get more hits than you on my Dungeons & Dragons fan site." However, it's a lot for me, goddammit. Sign the guestbook, let me know who you are. I always thought it was my Mom hitting the "Refresh" key over and over again. Most of you are hitting my site on Mondays. It's good to know that I'm a key part in the lives of those who want to put off starting the work week.
Well, if I can get my head through the door, I'm going to take a nap.

Stomach pains, went to hospital, had appendix removed, hate life, nine staples in gut, vicodin makes me sick and it's wearing off, read letter I sent to Jam Magazine for update, need to lie down. congratulations John Barr for graduating from Portland State, Eric Philps for having another birthday, Perfect in Plastic for having another show that I managed to miss. Here's the letter:
6/19; 8:20AM: I'm doing okay, I stayed two nights at Providence, which is an honor considering most women who give birth get sent home after one night. Went home monday around noon. Went to Fred Meyer's and used one of those geriatric scooters to get around (I cant walk too well). The fucking thing died in like aisle 7 or something. It's not like you can call AAA and wait for a jump. You've got to sit there and wait like a goofball until someone gets a new scooter for you.
Shit, I delivered an appendix via Cesearian section. I'm in so much pain, I'm not even going to check to see if I spelled "Ceasarian" right. Oh well, the vicodin is obviously having an affect on my writing, hope everyone is doing well, talk to you kids later.
